95th Anniversary Wide Glide

Phil started riding in 1970 whilst still in High school and his early riding career saw him try many different bikes, but his pride and joy would have to have been his Honda 750 Four. Putting the bikes aside in 1977 to raise a family, his passion for motorcycling was once again rekindled after the kids left home.

Phil is into his 14 th year as a HOG member, having joined in 1998 after purchasing his 95 th anniversary Wide Glide (which he still owns and rides) and up until June 2007 Phil was a dual member of both Sunshine Coast and Brisbane Chapters.

In October 2003 Phil was asked to become a founding member of the Sunshine Coast Chapter as Secretary but shortly thereafter swapped duties for those of Assistant Director holding that position until May 2006 when he became Chapter Director. Phil retired from office (or so he thought) in June 2008 after having served almost 5 years on the Chapter committee. In January 2010 Phil was awarded Chapter Life Membership for his work and dedication.

Phil and his Wide Glide have travelled all over Australia going as far north as Karumba and Cooktown, across the Nullabor west to Perth, south through rugged Tasmania and has ridden his bike in every Australian State and Territory clocking up over 145,00 klms.

Phil met his wife Christine, the current Activities Officer in the early seventies through their common interest in motorcycles. They have been married since January 1973 and have two children Bridget and Michael. Both children also have interests in motorcycling with one having a licence but no bike at the moment and the other a bike but no licence.

Phil and Christine are expecting their first Grandchild in August 2011 but despite this are hopeful of still finding time to play with their “toys”.
