The following outlines the standard road safety rules that need to be followed when riding with us.
Before each ride:
Have a full tank and check over your bike to make sure it is road worthy
Pay attention to the safety brief and instructions
Note down the phone number of the backup vehicle and first aid kit carriers
Listen to the start times, fuel stops, morning tea and lunch stop times and locations
- When riding stay in the staggered formation. Don't ride side by side and stay in the same lane as the Ride Captain.
- On narrow roads, pull back to single file only.
- If broken down, stay with your bike in clear view of the Tail End Charlie and the backup vehicle.
- When you are a corner marker, stay with your bike and indicate the direction of the ride until the Tail End Charlie and backup vehicle is in sight and be ready to move on when the TEC waves you through.
- Do not overtake in the staggered formation until the rider in front waves you through.
- Don't cut across the staggered formation. If a gap has formed, wave the rider behind to come up and fill the space.
- Maintain a safe riding distance from the rider in front to allow you to react in the case of an emergency.
- In the event of an incident, a committee member and a First Aid person is to stay with the rider. The rest of the group must ride on to prevent any further problems.
- Never pass the Ride Captain!
